After supporting my mother through an illness over the last three years I was left to investigate my own ideas and feelings on mortality. I questioned what it is we are meant to be giving and receiving along this journey of life, the possibilities of a life lived without realising its true potentials and more importantly, the thought of leaving this world a life unfulfilled, a very real, sad and frightening thought that has helped shape the themes underlying my latest work.
As I do most often in life, I turned to the examples of nature as a way of visually capturing my attempts at possibly realising some of these potentials and somehow unearthing the spectrum within ourselves in order to achieve them.
This is a journey that I have only just scratched the surface on and expect I'll be needing a lifetime to fully realise some of these ideas but, I figure, you have got to start somewhere.
